This is unbelievable, but my roommate's friend invited me to her wedding to take photos. I have only hung out with this friend one time, we went to Japantown for Ubon festival earlier this year. I was told there was already a photographer but that I could come and shoot. The couple got married on the 18th, this previous Saturday!

I got entirely carried away having fun shooting that I barely stopped. The food was really excellent too and I still didn't spend much time eating, that's how fun it was!
Didn't prepare anything spectacular, just had my D80, 50mm and 18-135mm.

Seriously a freaking amazing time! Everyone was really genuine in their happiness and mirth, so it was a pleasure to capture that feeling over and over again in different scenes and expressions by a bunch of different people. This experience was great in nearly every possible way. The only downside was when my roommate twisted her ankle at the end of the night and we had to leave early.

So ttf, this set is almost every photo, minus the bottom of the barrel scum shots. There are bound to still be some poor ones, especially in "Dinner". If you wouldn't mind could you assist me in identifying potential removals from each set you choose to look through (e.g. V Dinner: 5, 33, 100, 141.)?

--template--
I Preparation:
II Ceremony:
III Greeting:
IV Toasting:
V Dinner:
VI Cake:
VII Aftermath:
VIII Bouquet:
IX Dance:
X Closing:

Don't worry about being critical, I'm ok if you write down every single number in a set if you have to, any participation is appreciated.

Those of you here on ttf are seeing these before nearly everyone that attended the wedding outside of the bride and groom, and my roommate.

Where is it you ask?

I (the whole set with a few exceptions): too much noise

actually, looks like all the shots inside are too noisy

yes, I forgot to mention here that the limitations of the 18-135 f3.5-5.6 forced me to shoot at very high ISO.

also i'm usually pretty comfortable shooting at high ISO, but the problem was magnified when I had to use my poor aperture zoomer lens.

you couldn't use the flash?

if i wanted a fat crescent shadow in my pictures i could have. the on-camera flash is too low to entirely clear the end of my 18-135 lens.

actually, i think you'll find that every shot is too noisy ;)

ideally i would have solved this by purchasing flashes, and nicer lenses, unfortunately this was unpaid and those purchases are unrealistic for me.

the sb-400 should do, as you can tilt it up

if i were to make any camera related purchases I think I would first go with a second battery and more sd cards.

i don't think i'd want to invest time/cash in an sb-400, and just get a used sb-800 when i can afford one. a new sb-800 is around $300 on amazon; sb-400 is $100. In the used market I think it's possible to find one in decent condition for somewhere in the $200's.

one reason i don't think an sb-400 would be valuable to me is that i generally am fine with available light because i have control over the subject's movement in quite a bit of my other photography. also i can use my tripod to solve the problem of camera movement.

it just happened that i was shooting something atypical - moving people in low light. next time i'll consider how much bluet abhors noise!
