these are not mission-critical by any measure and may have been addressed in other threads (but i read through those which sounded close and saw nothing):

1. while i realize that ctrl+click is an easy-enough way to open links in new windows/tabs, i have a terrible habit of closing windows after i view the newly-opened pages instead of navigating back. should off-site urls open in a new window/tab by default? this may solve the problem for me but impinge on those who dislike extra tabs and windows. it won't affect people who open new windows anyway.

2. there is a "next 15 threads" button, but no way to return to the first page of a forum (or navigate backwards without a browser command) without navigation back to the front and re-clicking.

in regard to 2, i noticed that while creating a post the link to the forum appears. similarly, the text of the forum you are currently viewing appears when browsing threads. perhaps just extend the create post functionality into browsing?

edit: noticed that link also shows up while viewing a specific thread, but not the list of threads

the law is no protection
1. I hate this behavior. it makes sense in the context of a website that is more of an application, like gmail, where I don't want the entire thing to unload when I click on a hyperlink in an email or IM, but for something that is so much centered on multiple, static pages like a php forum, I think that links should behave normally (which is, to me, opening in the same window/tab).

what OS and browser do you use, bsdlite? if you use any of the bsds, you can middle-click on a hyperlink in firefox to open it in a new background tab.

2. totally agree. your suggestions makes sense. or perhaps just a "return to first page" link that appears when you aren't on the first page of a forum.

this thread is kind of related but not completely.

i'm using the good 'ol windows/firefox combination on most of my setups.

i just clicked the mouse wheel on the link in your post and, viola, it opened in a new tab (out of focus, no less!). so, scratch #1. i needed to rtfm i guess. my life is forever changed.

yay for good suggestions being implemented.

glad to have pointed out the middle-click thing. it's pretty crucial :).

I'll sort out #2 if everyone thinks its a good idea (I fail to see a downside to it!), I just started using TTF today and immediately noticed the lack of a previous button :)

warning: i'm picky about implementation. db can attest to this. worse, i don't have time at the moment to work together with devs to get something implemented.

but if you make something, you license it bsd, and i like it, then it will get committed.

Warning heeded :)
It would seem a simple change, I will take a look as soon as I get a spare moment.
And I wouldn't dream of licensing it otherwise!
