it's just a series of cubes that seem to connect through magnets, control signals seem to be passed from those panels on the floor that have circles on them. that's how they can act as one or two seperate devices. just guessing, also bump that order up to two.

Neither do I. It looks pretty pointless as a machine. But I'm sure the algorithms needed for this could be put to some purpose; though what they are I'm not sure. I'm just hoping Cornell wouldn't be wasting money on that without a good reason.
