Been dealing with spam too. On my ttf I started checking for common strings that appear in spammer posts. My thinking: if they can't post links, spamming your forum becomes a waste of their time.

I get a solid few hundred spam comments a day on my wordpress blog. None of them ever make it to posted, but lord knows they don't stop trying.

mostly that. no pushed page updates anytime soon. i think that technology needs to develop more. (i mean, i gave js 10-20 years to mature.) :)
