I was telling you about Derrida before, but you were saying the ideas I was conveying to you about him were Heidegger's. :p

I focused on poststructuralism for some of my essays last semester and I read about Ferdinand Saussure and his ideas about language, and they are similar to some of Heideggers ideas.

If you're interested in some of the beginnings of postmodernism Derrida writes about James Joyce's Ulysses. Although it is a modernist novel, it's kind of a mark of transition..also it may be considered a meta-narrative because it's self-referencing.

foucault - madness and civilization
seems to be an awesome mix of philosophy, history, and psychology.

camus - the rebel
seems so natural, and i love the topic. however, i hope it is easier to decipher than le mythe de sisyphe

foucault - ceci n'est pas une pipe
silly book that could be fun. possibly reminiscient of wittgenstienian themes, borders art history.

gotthelf - on ayn rand
i seem to hate her philosophy, but i only read it in high school. it might be interesting to make a return trip now to see what i think of it all, after taking a few years of philosophy. (especially considering all the time i spent reading almost everything she wrote!)
