not much music has really been discussed on here. in reality, i haven't had much time at all to find new music, so i don't have much to discuss.

but i have been listening to death cab for cutie's "plans" for a couple months now. everyone i talk to about it loves it--i think it's pretty poor, overall. worse production, worse lyrical base, and worse melodies than "transatlanticism," in my opinion. it's a step down. there are a few songs that i kinda like, but it won't be as timeless as earlier albums, or even transatlanticism (which isn't even their best in my opinion). in addition, i guess they also dropped barsuk records (their long-time awesome indie label) and signed with a major label. thoughts?

i agree, transatlanticism is better. i wouldn't say their new one is poor, but it is missing the real emotion of their earlier stuff and comes across as sappy. plus, i love how cynical transatlanticism is (new year, title and registration). i listened to plans a lot but i have found myself going back to the photo album and transatlanticism.
