what do you want? i think i'm going to incorporate some features like those on gmail and theroot42.org.
i'm thinking that you'll be able to create labels (tags?) and assign them to threads. so effectively you'll be able to star threads, bookmark threads, sort threads, and prioritize threads. this will be async-xml-req-ized.
pagination for threads.

tags would be cool.
pagination would be cool if it was customizable by the user.
my biggest feature request is kind of an intense one:
http://thinktankforums.com/thread.php?thread_id=1130
:)
be careful of what you wish for. :)
oh, and some shitbag company registered thinktankforum.com.
i like the idea of merging into one big thread list, but i want a fitting domain as well.

I'd just like the option of merging into one big list. keeping the links to existing forums in the mix somehow would be good as just an option for people who prefer to browse it that way and for the sake of categorizing posts that are in the "one big list."
i think it'd be cool if people could create their own categories if they liked.

that might be neat, but if you wanted to have a "forum view" like how it is now, listing all of the categories created would kind of suck.
my immediate instinct would be to create a default set of forums and then allow users to add tags to threads (or maybe even posts). some or all of the tags could be listed along with the thread if someone was viewing an index of threads.

looks good. include page numbers or some indication of where in the thread index you are?
looks good!
any decision if there will be canned categories or if the author of the thread will be able to add whatever tag they want?
no idea. that's just a quick draft. just tossing ideas around here.
i think
vanilla did a lot correctly. i also think that the main page (this list of forums or categories) is more of a nuisance and not very helpful.

I think there should be a way to view all threads or all posts by a specific user. sometimes I find myself wanting to look at my old threads just for fun and I can't :(.

I'd like slightly more line-spacing (1.2em?) for the posts, and a bit more space (padding) between the white box surrounding the type and the type itself.
:)
okay, thanks! keep the suggestions coming on design.

my only major quirk was that the click to post was on the left side, and all of us pretty much being from left-to-right reading countries it felt like it was naturally a back button.
This might be a good excuse for me to update myself on my interface guidlines knowledge. :)
But as far as design goes, for the most part it's pretty solid. No major complaints. Everything feels very intentional. :D
i like asemisldkfj idea of having all threads listed without categorization.
i also like the idea of using tags or labels. it occurs to me that there are really two different types of tag/labels styles that you could implement. those where individual users get to do personal tags and stars like gmail or those with public tags like flickr. i think both could be potentially useful.
also i would like a feature that you could change in your preferences that switched the view of the author from that of the author of the original thread to that of the author of the most recent post on that thread (personally i would prefer the latter since the most recent post information changes and thus provide more information than that of the original author of the thread).
good ideas there, fsmart
I'm still so excited for the radicalness of ttf 2... the tag system
