depends what you consider cheap in the fashion arena, but 2k t-shirts are pretty awesome. no cutesy crap like on threadless (and shirt woot, sometimes).
Wal-mart or Target, bag of 7 Hanes t-shirts
if i'm going for utility and not for style, i'll wear wool or polypropylene, not cotton.
utility in the summer is often better served by cotton

They're different sizes...I would basically be getting the equivalent of a women's medium by buying a men's extra-small. I try to only buy clothes that will fit me nicely.
that's the equivalent? men's smalls are .. really small. way too small for me. i'd think an xs would fit you.
I wear men's small :|. that's kind of a fashion preference though. though they do fit me fine.

in a medium I would have like sleeves down to my elbows and it would hang down past my crotch and I'd feel like a tool. it probably wouldn't be that bad, but I think my main issue is with the width of the shirt, because I'm pretty skinny. I hate having a bunch of fabric hanging off of me.
