Also Joshua Bell plays all of the violin solos in the film The Red Violin which is one of my favorites to this day. Some of the best music I've ever heard in a movie...top 3 for sure (with The Fountain also being up there).

also in NYC occasionally one of the numerous local artists will grab beer money by playing on a platform. usually you can hear the pretty obvious different in skill, and people generally tip well.
