I guess this is just a general concern about the way it works now.
I was all ready to write the guide thread. I just typed it up in a a reply box and when it was looking like it was complete I went and created the thread name and pasted everything in there.
I did it this way because if I started a new thread like usual it would just sit empty collecting views because it's a new thread, but nothing would be in it until I'm finished.
Is it the best practice to start a new thread title as soon as you have an idea for a post, even if there's dead thread time while it takes time to write up? or do you type it in an editor or some other typing box and then paste it when it's ready?

the law is no protection
yeah, I don't much like this behavior either. I don't type it up in a text editor or anything but I feel a little weird inside if I view my thread without any body text yet :).
hahaha.. yeah, i've thought about that too. i don't know what i should do.
how about making the empty threads invisible to everyone but that user?
either make them invisible to everyone except that user, or put a message in the thread that says something like "this is a freshie! stand by for the authoring post."
or how about this: can you make non-linking threads? post empty threads are unlinked?
I like that idea dannyp
or a link that redirects to a freshies page that doesn't up the post count.

can you explain, please?
it redirects to a page that says there's freshies abound...and doesn't up the post count while the author is still constructing the freshie to be found.
up the post count? you mean the view count?
yeah, oops.
