people who were around in the early days of ttf remember that you could post on ttf by text messaging some email like sms@thinktankforums.com.

how would you feel about fun sms features again?

like texting something like this:

to: sms@thinktankforums.com
title i am for real!

to change your user title

or stupid? of course, this isn't a high priority and other more important things would get done first

I'm not sure if changing user titles is that important with sms, however, I'd like to be able to browse ttf with my mobile web.

And a list of the 5 newest posts or something would be sent back to the phone...

haha.. well in the old days there used to be a sticky thread called "sms" that you could post into from your phone.

That's a good idea, too. Better, really. Maybe one of these days we can get permission to post images and can send picture messages!

here are my ideas for the sms system.

a few commands:

[a]ctive - get top new forum posts
[d]iscover - retrieve random post
[g]et - current discussion from sms thread
[j]ournal - get wlw/l recent journal!
[m]anual - displays this commands list
[p]ersons - online persons listing
[t]hread - list threads
[w]hen - list last person on, and when

I chose the single letters and the first letters on most phone keypads to make it easy to sms small commands.

for entering the chat discussion, just send a message containing anything other than the single letter commands, and make it go into the sms chat thread. also, maybe do a short-term smsing list where if you sms the get command, the server will forward all new chats to the phone for maybe 30 minutes.

oh yeah and so it'll just be like this:

to: sms@thinktankforums.com
subject: a

or for multiple queries:

to: sms@thinktankforums.com
subject: d p

or for ambiguous initials meme's, combinations like such:

ap
tp
dj
jg
tj
mj

Yeah! I use Google SMS for directions, movie times, weather, and sometimes traffic.

yeah I use that shit all the time too. sports scores and weather, mostly.
